About PlatformTaxHub

The Platform Income Operating System™. We give independent earners the income clarity and financial control that platforms don't provide.

Where This Started

PlatformTaxHub did not begin as a startup idea. It began as a problem of **income fragmentation**.

After decades working as a Financial Controller and Finance Transformation specialist with major FTSE 250 and global organisations, Mason moved into freelancing — managing finance projects independently across multiple clients and jurisdictions. With that came a problem no existing tool solved well: how do you accurately track income, fees, tax obligations, and real net profit when your earnings are spread across multiple platforms, currencies, and payout schedules simultaneously?

An accounting firm was hired. Then fired — because professional accounting knowledge consistently outperformed what they delivered on allowable deductions and tax optimisation. But the experience raised a more important question: if someone with decades of accounting expertise at the highest professional level found the process fragmented and opaque, what was happening to the millions of platform earners without that background?

The answer was clear, and it became our mission: to fix the fragmentation and give platform earners a single source of truth for their finances.

The Problem We Solve

Three things are happening simultaneously in the platform economy that most earners are not aware of — and that PlatformTaxHub was specifically built to address.

1. Tax Authorities Are Coming — Fast

Governments and tax authorities worldwide have identified the platform economy as a significant compliance gap. Rules are changing rapidly. Reporting thresholds are dropping. Platforms are now legally required to report earner income directly to tax authorities in an increasing number of jurisdictions — including the US, UK, and across the EU.

Most platform earners are still operating as though this is the early days of the gig economy — unaware, unprepared, and exposed. The difference between a platform earner who knows this and one who doesn't is the difference between a manageable tax bill and a compliance crisis.

2. AI Is Creating False Confidence

Platform earners are increasingly turning to AI tools for tax guidance. The problem is that AI gets platform tax wrong — not occasionally, but systematically. It conflates gross and net income. It misapplies jurisdiction-specific rules. It misses platform-specific fee structures that change quarterly. And it cannot know whether the guidance it provides reflects the current regulatory environment in any given country.

The earner who acts on AI-generated tax guidance without verification is not saving time. They are building a compliance risk they will not discover until it is expensive to fix. PlatformTaxHub exists to be the reliable, research-backed foundation that AI cannot replace.

3. Platform Earners Are Operating in Silos

The platform economy is somewhere between 154 million and 435 million people strong, depending on how participation is counted (World Bank / ILO 2025). But most of those earners see themselves only through the lens of their own platform — as a gig worker, a freelancer, a side hustler, a creator. They do not see the shared financial vulnerabilities that cut across every category: income fragmentation, fee opacity, currency exposure, and the compliance blind spots that no single platform dashboard was ever designed to surface.

PlatformTaxHub was built to break through that silo — to give every type of platform earner a unified view of what they actually earn, what they actually owe, and what the platform economy actually costs them.

Our Mission

To build the Platform Income Operating System™ — giving independent earners the income clarity, financial control, and tax awareness they need to thrive. We believe platform earners worldwide — up to 435 million by some estimates — deserve to understand their numbers without spreadsheets, guesswork, or expensive software that wasn't built for them.

What PlatformTaxHub Provides

PlatformTaxHub is a unified financial dashboard built from the ground up for the specific reality of people who earn online. It is not adapted from traditional accounting software or a generic tax calculator.

We help gig workers, creators, freelancers, ecommerce sellers, digital product sellers, and rental hosts through four pillars:

  • Awareness — surfacing the compliance landscape most platform earners don't know exists
  • Education — guides, case studies, and the Platform Transparency Series that go inside the platforms to show what earners are actually dealing with
  • Tools — calculators and dashboards that show real net income, real fee impact, and real tax exposure across multiple platforms simultaneously
  • Resources — practical frameworks, checklists, and operational systems for staying compliant and financially healthy as a platform earner
